A day after BJP members staged a walkout from the JPC meeting, the party on Thursday alleged that ruling Congress was brazenly trying to scuttle the probe into the 2G spectrum allocation issue but rejected suggestions of BJP MPs resigning from the JPC in protest for now.
Gameplan of the ruling party is to scuttle this 2G spectrum allocation probe in the same fashion they scuttled the PAC report on it, senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said at a press conference. Rejecting the suggestions of BJP members resigning from the JPC,he said,This is the purest speculation I have heard.
He said they would chart out their next move only after they received a formal response from the JPC chairman on their demand. We will await a response from the JPC chairman and then consider over next move, Sinha said in response to queries whether the BJP members were planning to resign from the JPC in protest.
Given the fact that BJPs walkout from the JPC came on the heels of their demand for Prime Ministers resignation over coal block allocation issue that has paralysed Parliament for the last three days,Sinha cautioned against speculating saffron partys next move.
We will be jumping the gun,if we responded to it now, Sinha responded to queries whether the BJP MPs planned to resign from their membership of Parliament to mount pressure on the government. Focussing on the JPC probe into the 2G spectrum allocation issue, the BJP leader reiterated their demand for calling the Prime Minister and Finance Minister to tender evidence before the JPC. There will be no compromise on our demand to call the Prime Minister and P Chidambaram, he said.
