The commission upheld the position of Reliance Big Entertainment Ltd,which had moved the commission against the chamber alleging unfair and anti-competitive trade practices.

Providing relief to Reliance BIG,the CCI restrained the chamber from taking any action for preventing the release of the film Raavan if the multiplexes are willing to do so,sources told The Indian Express.

When contacted, the company said,On 17th June 2010 Competition Commission of India CCI has passed a judgement in favour of Reliance BIG Pictures8230;As on 18th June 2010,Raavan and Raavanan would be playing in 24 theatres in Mysore circuit,in all multiplexes and and in multiple screens in these multiplexes.

The chamber, the sources said, had done so for promoting regional movies and over price distribution issues, which the CCI said was an abuse of dominance and unfair practice.

The Commission had asked the director general to investigate the reason for discrimination against Hindi films as the company had filed around 14 complaints, mainly in non-Hindi speaking places, against exhibitor associations anti-competitive behaviour regarding Hindi films.
