The CBI on Monday took over the probe of three new FIRs,including abetment to suicide and attempt to murder,filed in the Ruchika molestation case against former Haryana DGP S P S Rathore and other Haryana police officers. The agency has begun investigations and has registered three Regular Cases RCs after taking three FIRs from the Haryana Police registered during the last few days. According to sources,the probe team is headed by DIG Satish Golcha.

Six years ago,charges pertaining to abetment of suicide were dropped against Rathore by the CBI. Now,it will be investigating the same charges.

The CBI has registered the case under various Sections,including 306 abetment to suicide,criminal conspiracy 120 B,forgery and others,as mentioned by Panchkula Haryana Sector 5 police.

According to the sources,the agency may question Rathore and other police officers and it is also analysing the legal implications regarding Rathores arrest.

Two FIRs,registered on the complaint of Ruchikas father Subhash Chander Girhotra,were filed against Rathore in Panchkula under various Sections,including attempt to murder,criminal intimidation,forging evidence,wrongful confinement,fabricating false evidence and criminal conspiracy. The third FIR,under Section 306 abetment of suicide,was registered on the complaint of Ruchikas brother,Ashu.

The CBI has today taken up investigation relating to the case, CBI spokesperson Harsh Bhal said in Delhi,adding the Centre had given consent after a request from the Haryana government.

The agency has re-registered the three cases in Special Crime Zone in Delhi and has asked all persons in the know of facts and circumstances of these cases and those who are willing to give evidence in the court to inform the agency.

The first case has been registered under various Sections,including abetment to suicide against Rathore,the then SP K P Singh,SI Prem Dutt and two ASIs Jai Narain and Sewa Singh. The other two cases against the same officers,excluding the then SP,have been registered under various Sections,including attempt to murder and public servant disobeying law with intent to cause injury.
