DHAKA: A court in Bangladesh has issued an arrest warrant for a son of ex-premier Khaleda Zia over a 2004 grenade attack that killed 24 people at an opposition rally. The warrant against Tarique Rahman was issued Sunday after police charged him with masterminding the attack. PM Sheikh Hasina,who was then the main opposition politician,survived the attack.

42 trapped in Chinese mines

BEIJING: A buildup of gas hampered rescue efforts in one Chinese coal mine and water continued to pour into another as emergency crews raced to reach 42 miners trapped Sunday,officials said. The cave-in at Heshan mine in Guangxi and a flood at Niupeng mine in Guizhou occurred after days of heavy rains.

Toddler saved after fall from 10th floor

BEIJING: A woman in east China saved a toddler,who is in critical condition,after a 10-storey fall. Media reports said Two-year-old girl Niu Niu was left unattended Saturday in her familys 10th floor apartment outside Hangzhou city. A passer-by Wu Juping saw the toddler hanging from the window and caught her when she fell.
