British end military mission in Iraq
BAGHDAD: The last of Britains military forces left Iraq after over eight years of fighting. Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said the British Royal Navy Sunday handed over its mission of patrolling waters off port city of Umm Qasr. Meanwhile,at least 10 explosions in and around Baghdad killed 16 people Sunday.
Italian toddler left by dad in hot car dies
ROME: A Italian toddler,identified only as Elena,died after her father forgot to drop her off at day-care and left her in his hot car for five hours. Doctors declared the 22-month-old brain dead late Saturday. She suffered swelling in the brain.
EU opens office in rebel-held Benghazi
BENGHAZI: The European Union established formal diplomatic contact with the Libyan opposition on Sunday by opening an office in the rebel stronghold of Benghazi. It was part of growing international recogniation of the rebels political leadership in Benghazi.
Court upholds death sentences in Bahrain
DUBAI: A special appeals court in Bahrain upheld death sentences Sunday for two people convicted of killing policemen during anti-government protests in March,the state news agency reported.
