BERLIN: Germanys top security official says authorities are tracking about 1,000 Islamic radicals in the country with possible links to terrorism. Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich told Bild newspaper that of those,128 have the potential to commit attacks,and 20 have trained in terrorist camps.

First witness testifies at Mubarak trial

CAIRO: A top police witness at the trial of Hosni Mubarak said Monday he was not aware of any order to fire on protesters who ousted the former Egyptian president. But General Hussein Saeed Mohamed Moussa said police were given live ammunition to protect the Interior Ministry from attack. Mubarak is charged with involvement in killing protesters and inciting some officers to use live ammunition against them.

Bahrain urges calm after teens death

NEW DELHI: In a statement made available to The Indian Express,the embassy of Bahrain urged people to remain calm after the death of 14-year-old Ali Jawad Ahmad in Sitra last Wednesday. The statement expressed regret over the death of the boy,allegedly during anti-government protests. It said injuries sustained by Ali a fatal blow to the back of the neck were inconsistent with being hit with a tear gas canister or a rubber bullet. It added the death would be probed.
