Egyptians rally against Mubarak

CAIRO: Thousands of anti-government protesters clashed with riot police Tuesday in Cairo in a Tunisia-inspired demonstration to demand end of Hosni Mubaraks nearly 30 years in power. The police used batons and tear gas to clear protesters demanding an end to grinding poverty,corruption,unemployment and police abuses.

Court martial against Fonseka legal: SC

COLOMBO: Sri Lankas detained former Army chief Sarath Fonseka Tuesday lost an appeal to retain his parliamentary seat. He lost his seat as the Supreme Court ruled that the court martial which sentenced him to a 30-month rigorous jail term for corruption in defence deals was legal.

3 held for murder of Indo-Canadian Sikh

TORONTO: Nearly four years after Indo-Canadian Sikh woman Amanpreet Kaur Bahia,33,was brutally killed at her home in Surrey,her husband Baljinder Singh Bahia has been arrested along with two others and charged with murder. Amanpreet,mother of three young girls,was murdered on February 7,2007.

LONDON: Warning about the dangers of social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace,Pope Benedict XVI said online communication must not stop face-to-face conversations. It is important to always remember that virtual contact cannot and should not be a substitute for direct human contact with people at all levels of our society, he said.
