India ranks 87th in corruption list
NEW DELHI: India has slipped to 87th spot in Transparency International8217;s latest ranking of nations based on the level of corruption,with the global watchdog asserting that perceptions about corruption in the country increased in the wake of the CWG. The Corruption Perception Index report covering the public sector in 178 countries shows that India fell by three positions since 2009.
FIA probe says Pak Taliban killed Benazir
Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency here has concluded that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was killed by Pakistani Taliban in a gun-and-bomb attack in Rawalpindi,according to a media report on Tuesday. The conclusion was reached following a probe into the assassination,the Dawn newspaper quoted its sources in the organisation as saying.
Poll says Sarkozy most unpopular
LONDON: Nicolas Sarkozy has emerged as the most unpopular French President in 50 years in a new poll. According to the French poll,Sarkozys popularity has gone down to 29 per cent,3 points less than in September to reach its lowest ever,ahead of another week of strikes and petrol shortages,the Daily Mail reported. Sarkozy is polled even more unpopular than General Charles De Gaulle who oversaw the new French constitution in 1958.

LONDON: John Worboys,the London taxi driver convicted in a series of sexual attacks on his women passengers,is linked to more than 100 cases of assault,the Scotland Yard said. Worboys,dubbed the black cab rapist,is one of the most prolific sex offenders in British criminal history.
Poudel fails again,Nepal deadlock on
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel,in the race for Prime Ministership without a rival in Parliament,was again unable to garner the required number of votes in the House Tuesday. This was the 13th attempt to elect a PM in the past four months. Poudel secured 98 votes in favour and two against in the 599-member House. Nepals interim constitution requires more than 50 per cent support of the number of the House.
