Antony orders audit of all defence land
NEW DELHI: With several cases of scandals involving the military coming to light,including the Sukna scandal and the Adarsh housing society scam,Defence Minister A K Antony has ordered an audit of all defence land,including physical verification by local military authorities. Antony has asked the Directorate General Defence Estates DGDE to immediately conduct a 8216;reality check on ground8217; to determine the status of defence land.
Kalmadis judicial custody extended
New Delhi: A CBI court on Thursday extended till July 21 the judicial custody of former chairman of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi and other officials who are in jail for their alleged involvement in various irregularities during the conduct of the Games.
High Court reserves Moranis bail order
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday reserved its order on the interim bail application of Karim Morani,a Bollywood producer arrested in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. Morani pleaded for four weeks of bail on medical grounds,which was opposed by the CBI.

New Delhi: Fourteen accused in 2G scam,including former telecom minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi,on Thursday accused the CBI of delaying the proceedings for framing of charges and frustrating their chance of securing bail.
Chandolia files bail plea
New Delhi: Accused in 2G scam R K Chandolia,former private secretary of the then telecom minister A Raja,filed an application before the Special CBI court on Thursday requesting that proceedings against him be dropped for want of proper sanction and he be granted bail. The Judge has asked the CBI to file its response on Monday.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday said it was time to bring in an expert to conduct a scientific valuation of the wealth found in the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple vaults and create a fool-proof security system. As of now,the articles found in the vaults are estimated to be over Rs 1.5 lakh crore.

Arya murder: Cops do a U-turn
LUCKNOW: IN a twist to the murder of former CMO Dr Vinod Arya,the Lucknow Police on Thursday filed an application in court for withdrawal of charges against four of the five accused in the case. The judge told the police to return on Friday. Assistant Prosecution Officer SK Verma said the police wanted to submit an application in the court of Bhagwan Deo Mishra for withdrawing the names of three accused from the case. The police has been called on Friday for hearing on the matter, Verma said. The four accused are Anshu Dixit,Annu Dixit,Ajay Kumar Mishra and Abhay Singh. Lucknow DIG D K Thakur said no evidence was found against the four. Arya was shot dead by motorcycle-riders when he was taking a morning walk near his Vikas Nagar residence on October 27 last year.
