RAJKOT: A complaint has been filed against District and Sessions judge of Porbandar for allegedly harassing his daughter-in-law for dowry,the police said on Sunday. Darshana Dave,a native of Amreli,has filed a complaint against her husband Kinnar,father-in-law and district judge Arvind Dave,mother-in-law Pratibha and brother-in-law Prashant. Darshana,who married Kinnar two years ago,says she was even beaten up by the husband and in-laws.

Three smugglers arrested by STF

LUCKNOW: Three persons were arrested by the Special Task Force STF in Bareilly district for allegedly smuggling narcotics and selling them in Delhi. Ashwani alias Sunny,Subhash Jaiswal and Sunil Kumar Gupta were arrested on Saturday by STF on a tip-off,Special DG Law and Order Brij Lal told reporters here. Ashwani,during interrogation,told STF that he used to prepare the narcotics and sell them in Delhi.

ULFA pro-talks group wants Barua out

GUWAHATI: The pro-talk group of ULFA on Sunday demanded immediate suspension of its commander-in-chief Paresh Barua for taking arbitrary decisions violating the outfits discipline. At a time when the meeting of the ULFA executive committee and the general council are about to be held in the backdrop of the overwhelming desire of the people for talks,the recent announcement of Barua against the talks process is uncalled for, Mrinal Hazarika,a pro-talk ULFA leader,told reporters.

Father of Haren Pandya dies at 82

AHMEDABAD: Vitthal Pandya,the father of slain former Gujarat minister Haren Pandya died at a city hospital following a respiratory infection,his family said on Sunday. Pandya 82 had been admitted to the Jivraj Mehta Hospital on Saturday due to infection in the lungs. After his son Haren Pandya,a BJP leader and a former state home minister was shot on March 26,2003,Pandya had asked for a CBI investigation.

Naxal commander killed in Andhra

HYDERABAD: K Suresh alias Anna,a Maoist commander of Praja Pratighatana Group,was killed during a shootout in the Khammam-Chhatisagarh forest area on Sunday. The police said during a routine combing operation in Alapali forest area,special police force came across some Naxalites camping at a place. Both sides opened fire in which Suresh was killed.
