NEW DELHI: An inquiry committee probing the issue of insertion of a former Pakistan Air Force chiefs photograph in a government advertisement has sought an extension of three weeks. The committee,set up on January 24,was supposed to submit the probe report within two weeks.

Helipad to be set up in BaNdowan
KOLKATA: The West Bengal Government,the CRPF and other security agencies,engaged in anti-Maoist operations in several Bengal districts bordering Jharkhand,Orissa and Bihar,are working on a plan to set up a helipad in the region to facilitate aerial surveillance and operations. A day before Union Home Minister P Chidambarams visit to Kolkata to chair a meeting with the Chief Ministers of four Maoist-affected states,the CRPF on Monday began its groundwork at Purulia to go for an offensive. It is learnt that the CRPF has taken the initiative to set up the helipad at Bandowan,bordering Jharkhand,which is a stronghold of the Maoists.
6 killed as MLAs escort car hits auto
HYDERABAD: Six persons were killed on the spot and four injured when the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling collided with an escort vehicle of a senior Congress MLA in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh on Monday,the police said. The escort jeep of state government chief whip Bhatti Vikramarka,while trying to overtake another vehicle dashed against the autorickshaw coming from opposite direction near Dandumalkapuram of Chotuppal mandal in Nalgonda at about 11 am,they said. The convoy with the Congress leader was on its way towards Hyderabad from Khammam while the auto-rickshaw was going to Narketpally from Hyderabad. Six persons including the auto-driver and a couple were among those who were killed,the police said adding that the condition of two of the four occupants who suffered injuries in the accident was critical. Four members in the escort jeep also sustained minor injuries.
Cant resolve Sami,wife dispute
MUMBAI: Former Supreme Court Judge B N Srikrishna,appointed by the Bombay High Court to resolve the matrimonial dispute between playback singer Adnan Sami and his wife Sabah Galadari,has expressed inability to sort out issues between the warring couple. The High Court was informed about this by the lawyers of Sabah and Adnan respectively. PTI
