Oscar statuette: TV channel dragged to court
NEW DELHI: The organiser of Oscar Awards,Academy of Motion Picture and Arts and Sciences,approached the Delhi High Court Friday,seeking injunction against an Indian television channel for presenting trophy to artistes similar to that of the Oscar statuette. The Academy also sought damages of Rs 2 crore from Star Vijaya Television channel,which organises Vijay Awards for artistes of Tamil film industry. The court referred the matter for mediation.

Ahmedabad: In a setback to the probe into 2004 Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case,Maharashtra ADGP Satyapal Singh,who had been asked to head the Special Investigation Team formed by the Gujarat High Court,has requested that he be exempted from the responsibility.
Maoists attack Bihar office,burn trucks
GAYA/SHEOHAR: Naxalites burnt an office of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation at Sheohar and two trucks in Gaya during their 24-hour shutdown that ended Thursday night. Police said nearly 50 Naxals raided the office,forced out the labourers sleeping there,and set afire construction material stored there.
