PC to inaugurate Kolkata NSG hub
NEW DELHI: The NSG commando hub in Kolkata will soon be fully operationalised as P Chidamabaram will inaugurate infrastructure facilities on September 21. The 20-acre hub at Badu near the international airport houses a squad of 241 crack commandos for anti-terror and counter-hijack operations for over a year. The infrastructure facilities at the hub have now been made permanent and it will have full facilities for the commandos stationed for special operations, said NSG Director General Rajan K Medhekar.
Fishermens release: Pak team in India
RAJKOT: A team of representatives from Pakistani Fishing Forum and Pakistani Joint Judicial Committee,working for release of jailed Indian fishermen,arrived here on a three-day tour. They will cover Saurashtra coast during the visit. The Pakistani Delegation wants to meet fishermen and their families. The idea is to initiate a dialogue, said Jatin Desai of NGO Mumbai Peach,which is involved in the initiative.
For hills,Jaya replaces free fans with stoves
CHENNAI: Accepting requests of people from hilly areas in the state,CM Jayalalithaa on Sunday said they would be given induction stoves instead of an electric fan. On September 15,Jayalalithaa launched state-wide distribution of mixies,grinders and fans. Apparently people from Nilgris and Dindigul districts have requested for induction stoves,since they cant use fans there due to the weather conditions, the CM said in a release.
No plan to redraft ULFA constitution
GUWAHATI: ULFA pro-talk faction on Sunday said it has no immediate plan to redraft its constitution to sideline the outfits commander in chief Paresh Barua. According to pro-talk factions publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary,the news item suggesting the same appeared to be motivated and reflected irresponsible standards of journalism by a section of the media in the state to create misunderstanding and tension among different sections of people.
Khanduri announces VAT waiver on petrol
Dehradun: In the wake of the hike in petrol prices,Chief Minister B C Khanduri has announced complete waiver of the states share of 25 per cent of VAT on petrol. This will help reduce additional burden on the consumers in the state,the state government. After the waiver,consumers will get a relief of 78 paise a litre.
