Tiwari told to pay Rs 75,000 to son

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday ordered veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari to pay Rs 75,000 to Rohit Shekhar,who claims to be his biological son,in compliance with the courts previous order on his paternity suit. A High Court Bench of Justice Gita Mittal directed Tiwari to comply with the courts August 13,2010 order and pay the amount by May 10. Tiwari had sought deletion of a paragraph from the suit in which Shekhar had alleged that the Congress leader avoided meeting him,but the plea was dismissed.

Case against Jogi for giving cash to voters

RAIPUR: Following allegations that former chief minister Ajit Jogi distributed cash among voters at an election rally in Bastar last month,Dantewada police have registered a case against him. The FIR,filed late Thursday,claimed that a preliminary inquiry had found prima facie evidence against him. Jogi has been charged under provisions of Representations of People Act,1951 and the Indian Penal Code,a spokesman for Dantewada district administration told The Indian Express on Friday. The allegations were levelled by the ruling BJP in a complaint to the EC. The Congress dismissed the charges as baseless.

Pension for parents with daughters in MP

Balaghat: In an effort to increase the girl child population in Madhya Pradesh,Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday announced that parents who have daughters will get pension after the age of 55. People who have daughters but no son will get pension from the state government after they attain the age of 55, Chouhan said at a public gathering to mark the fourth death anniversary of former minister Dilip Bhatere. He said this was decided as there was a feeling of insecurity among the parents who have no sons about their old age support.

Serial killer arrested in Karnataka

Chitradurga: A lorry driver,wanted by the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Police in connection with over 30 rape and murder cases,has finally been arrested,a top police official said on Friday. Shankar alias Jaishankar,an alleged psychopath,was wanted by Tamil Nadu Police in connection with 19 rape and murder cases and Karnataka police was on the lookout for him for his role in eight murders and six rape cases,DGP S T Ramesh said. He was arrested from Bijapur district two days ago,he said.
