NTPC commissions Dadri plant
NEW DELHI: Power maharatna NTPC today commissioned a 490 mega watt MW unit at Dadri thermal power plant,a unit which will supply electricity to Delhi for the Commonwealth Games. Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde inaugurated the second of two units in Uttar Pradesh today. The plant will distribute 90 per cent of its power to Delhi while the remaining units will stay in Uttar Pradesh. In all,NTPC has reached 32,194 MW.
Qualcomm sells 26 to Tulip,Global Holdings
New Delhi: US-based mobile chip maker Qualcomm today sold 26 per cent stake in its Indian broadband unit to Tulip Telecom and Global Holdings for 57.72 million about Rs 268 crore. Telecom networking firm Tulip Telecom and Global Holdings,owners of telecom infrastructure firms GTL Ltd and GTL Infra,have bought 13 per cent each for a combined value of 57.72 million about Rs 268 crore. Qualcomm now holds 74 per cent in the yet-to-be named unit and has sold the stake to conform with FDI rules under which telecom companies in the country should have a minimum of 26 per cent Indian holding.
Maruti to launch five CNG cars in a day
New Delhi: In an unprecedented move to defend market share,the countrys largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India will launch five cars in CNG version in a single day in the second week of next month Alto,compact cars Estilo and WagonR,multi-purpose vehicle Eeco and mid-sized sedan SX4.
Inox soars 20pc on stake sale reports
New Delhi: Shares of Inox Leisure today surged 20 per cent on media reports that Reliance MediaWorks is interested in acquiring a 67 per cent stake in the multiplex operator,which the Anil Ambani-led firm has denied. We8230; deny any discussions by Reliance MediaWorks RMW or any offer by us to acquire any controlling stake in Inox Leisure Ltd,8221; an ADAG spokesperson said.
Century Textiles plans Rs 2,975 crore capex
MUMBAI: Century Textiles and Industries Ltd has planned a Rs 2,975-crore capex capital expenditure over the next 2-3 years across various divisions,including cement,paper amp; pulp and real estate. 8220;We have planned a capex of Rs 2,975 crore. This includes Rs 850-crore investment in developing commercial properties at Mumbai,Rs 1,600 crore in the Manikgarh cement expansion and Rs 425 crore in the cement grinding unit at Sagardighi,West Bengal,8221; Century Textiles director Kumar Mangalam Birla told shareholders at the company8217;s annual general meeting here.
Honda launches new superbike in India
New Delhi: Japanese two-wheeler giant Honda today launched its new super bike,VFR1200F,at ex-showroom price of Rs 17.5 lakh in Delhi. The new bike is powered by a 1237 cc V4 engine.
