Deora,FM to discuss price hike on Sunday

NEW DELHI: Facing opposition from key allies in the UPA government,petroleum minister Murli Deora will on Sunday meet finance minister Pranab Mukherjee to explore the possibility of tweaking a proposal to hike fuel prices. The petroleum ministry did not take to the Union Cabinet,which met today,the proposal to free petrol prices from government control,along with a hike in diesel,cooking gas and kerosene rates,apparently because of opposition from the Trinamool Congress and the DMK to such a move.

Cabinet nod sought for HCL share sale

NEW DELHI: The mines ministry on Thursday said it will seek Cabinets approval for its 20 per cent share sale programme for Hindustan Copper Ltd by the end of this fiscal. Mines ministry will seek Cabinet nod for 20 per cent share sale proposal in Hindustan Copper Ltd before March 31,2010, mines secretary S S Nair told reporters here.

Summons against former Satyam official

HYDERABAD: A special court issued fresh summons asking a former top official of scam-hit Satyam,who is believed to be in the US,to appear before it failing which process will be initiated through the government to bring him back to face justice. Judge T Rajani issued the summons to Ram Mynampati as he failed to appear before the court despite being asked thrice by it in connection with the case filed by Serious Fraud Investigation Office SFIO.

Dhanlaxmi to acquire 70 pc stake in an MF

MUMBAI: Private sector lender Dhanlaxmi Bank plans to acquire about 70 per cent stake in a mutual fund,a top bank official said here today. We plan to acquire 70 per cent stake in an existing mutual fund and expect approval for the same from the Reserve Bank of India by next week, MD and CEO Amitabh Chaturvedi said.

Mali gets Exim Banks 15-mn credit line

MUMBAI: The Export-Import Bank of India Exim Bank has agreed to provide a Line of Credit LOC of 15 million to the Republic of Mali for financing exports from India. The credit would be for financing eligible goods,machinery,equipment and services,including consultancy services from India.

SG sells Rs 33 cr shares of Indiabulls Power

MUMBAI: Societe Generale has sold shares of Indiabulls Power for Rs 32.86 crore,through open market transaction. The fund house has sold 1.05 crore shares in power company at Rs 31.3 per share.
