Putting the onus for the death of eight-year-old Aman Khan during Prime Minister Manmohan Singhs visit on the state administration,Union Minister of State for Coal Sriprakash Jaiswal said he would request Chief Minister Mayawati to institute an inquiry into the death. Aman reportedly died due to delay in receiving medical attention on account of a roadblock during the PMs visit on July 3.

Jaiswal said,It is a serious issue and if Aman has died due to the rigid attitude of the police team posted at Coca Cola Chauraha, strict action should be initiated against the guilty policemen. He asserted that it was the duty of the police team to ensure that an injured person is taken to the hospital on time during any VIP visit.

I will write a letter to the CM,and ask her to hold an impartial inquiry and take strict action against the police team if they are found guilty in the incident, he said.

Jaiswal, who arrived in Kanpur on Saturday, participated in the candlelight march led by Amans father T H Khan and mother Usha Sharma. The march,in which nearly 200 people participated, started from the Ordnance Equipment Factory OEF and ended at the Gandhi statue in the Phoolbagh ground.

Both his parents want that an ambulance service should be launched to help injured people during a VIP visit, said Jaiswal, adding that he had given them an assurance of the same.

A Class II student of Kangaroo Kids,Aman sustained head injuries in an accident at his Shyam Nagar residence on July 3. His father T H Khan claimed that the police team posted at Coca Cola Chauraha did not permit him to use the GT Road to reach Regency Hospital, leading to Amans death before he could reach the hospital.

Amans mother Usha Sharma said: It is heartening to see that with each passing day more and more people are coming to the fore to support our cause.
