Asha Parekh: He was a tireless bundle of energy. Devsaab would cajole us into doing something and keep us busy if he found us just relaxing on the sets. He could never sit still and did not like anyone doing nothing! On screen,he was unique, and has his own style of song enactment as well. When on the sets of our first film,Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai,he was a superstar and I was just a few films old,but he was so courteous and down-to-earth. We co-starred in Kahin Aur Chal Mahal later, and I did a role in Main Tere Liye, which he produced to launch his son Suneil. Devsaab was not in the cast of this film though
Mohan Kumar:A man who was born in Gurdaspur died in his favourite city,London! He would always buy his jackets and caps there, never from Mumbai. What a man Dev was! He never talked ill of anyone, nor did he tolerate anyone badmouthing anyone else. He was one of the nicest men I have met. He would never misbehave, use foul language or lose his temper. Definitely the most disciplined man I know,he would refuse to go into his make-up room even when studios were not airconditioned and he had to wear heavy woollens as a part of his character.
He never tomtommed about himself. And he never asked for his dues. I had to send it to him after making Amir Garib, which was Devsaabs blockbuster after a dull phase and I regret not making more films with him! He was so happy with my film that when I went to meet him on his birthday this year,he said,I am shocked that a filmmaker of your calibre has stopped making films! He had even complained once that I had never repeated him!
Aamir Khan:Indian cinema has lost one of its biggest stars. Devsaab was a force of creative energy. A man of immense charisma and charm. He was an icon for many generations. His passing away is a sad loss to all lovers of Indian cinema. My heartfelt condolences to all in the family.
Amitabh Bachchan:Just reading news about Devsaab praying it is not true ! He was such a positive person…never associated death with him. Had just met Devsaab at his premiere recently…he was weak but full of spirit ..the newspapers confirming his passing away ..sad. An era has come to an end .. Dev Anand leaves a void never perhaps to be filled again .. his never give up belief, his joy of life!Twitter
