Revving up the glamour on Day One were collections by designers Nikasha Tawadey and Surily Goel. A high dose of jewel colours and bling was the common denominator in both their signature collections. Delhi-based designer Nikashas collection Raat ki Rani charted a predominantly Indo-Western road map with saris,sharara-jumpsuits,kurtas paired with churidars, dhoti salwars and kaftan-like dresses. For embellishments, the designer chose sequins and embroidery. The Indianness of the garments vis-a-vis fabrics and embellishments was contrasted with contemporary cuts and bolder styling.
Goels The Spice Story was also inspired by dark and deep tones, characteristic of the autumn-winter season. Emerald green was a clear favourite with the designer, who worked her way through hues such as burgundy and navy blue. The designer played up dresses both long and short along with jumpsuits and billowy tops. Given her popularity among Bollywood celebrities,Goels autumn-winter 2013 collection seemed ready to slip into for evening soirees and red carpet dos. Proving that well was actor Preity Zinta who looked elegant in a one shoulder sequinned dress as she closed the show for Goel.
