Two powerful bombs exploded here on Thursday in the midst of a call given by militants to boycott the Independence Day.

Imphal: Two powerful bombs exploded here on Thursday in the midst of a call given by militants to boycott the Independence Day. There was no casualty in the explosions,sources said. The first bomb went at 8.20 am at Moirangkhom,about 400 metres from the main I-day function where CM Okram Ibobi Singh was present. The second blast took place at 4.10 pm at Porompat in east Imphal. Gogoi: hope Centre will talk to groups seeking statehood

Guwahati: Even as organisations demanding separate states for different ethnic groups have announced fresh agitational programmes,Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi Thursday expressed hope that the Centre would soon invite these groups to resolve their issues. I appeal to all these groups to give up the path of agitation and come forward for talks, Gogoi said an added his government preferred Assam should not be divided further.
