While admitting that his party8217;s relations with the BJD 8220;have become more tense8221;,BJP leader L K Advani said today that he did not rule out the possibility of an alliance between the two parties in the future.
Advani, who was in the state as part of his Jan Chetna Yatra, said the BJP8217;s state unit would be consulted before any decision. We were in a coalition for quite some time8230; they ended it without any reason or justification,8221; he said.
Advani8217;s statement comes amidst talk of BJD and BJP indulging in back-channel talks to resume their alliance. In the run-up to the 2009 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections,Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had unilaterally announced the end of his party8217;s 11-year-long alliance with BJP.
When asked why he did not criticise the Orissa government in his speeches,Advani said the focus of his campaign was corruption at the Centre. On the Lokayukta8217;s reports indicting the Orissa government,he said the state unit of the BJP would comment on the issue.
