The BJP high command is said to be peeved with senior Jammu and Kashmir party leader Chaman Lal Gupta, who is also a former Union Minister, for not supporting the party nominee in Udhampur-Doda constituency. Gupta represented the seat thrice, and his son was an aspirant for the party ticket this time. The state BJP leadership has complained to the high command that Gupta is queering the pitch for the nominee — former state president Nirmal Singh. With the party hoping to win the seat, the BJP central leadership is learnt to have conveyed to the state leaders that strict action would be initiated against dissidents.
