Bata India Q2 profit up 5.2%

Bata India today said its net profit rose by 5.2 per cent during the second quarter.

Footwear major Bata India Limited today said its net profit rose by 5.2 per cent during the second quarter of 2012-13 at Rs 32 crore compared to Rs 30.4 crore in same period in the year-ago period.

Sales of the company during the quarter increased 16 per cent at Rs 429 crore as compared to Rs 372.4 crore in the previous corresponding period.

The company said in a statement the quarter witnessed changes in the retail environment with low consumer sentiments and low customer traffic for key retailers.

Shares of the company fell by 3.38 per cent to Rs 855.15 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
