Troops deployed on the 498-km Meghalaya stretch have been already given hand-held thermal-imagers and night-vision devices in order to ensure effective night domination in view of increased sensitivity of the border. BSF director-general U K Bansal,who made a two-day trip to Meghalaya, asked the troops to maintain utmost vigil on border and ensure security of border and the border population. The DG also asked the troops on border to avoid predictable operations activities and maintain surprise. He also reviewed the domination plans of the battalions deployed along the sensitive border, a BSF spokesperson told The Indian Express from Shillong.
