Bajaj reports 4 rise in April sales

Bajaj Auto today reported just 4 per cent rise in April sales to 3,81,590 units.

The second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto today reported just 4 per cent rise in April sales to 3,81,590 units,as against 367,309 units a year ago.

The company said in a statement it is confident that with a slew of new launches lined up over couple of months its growth would be higher than the industry8217;s expansion this fiscal.

While motorcycle sales grew 6 per cent at 3,42,324 units,commercial vehicles reported 13 per cent decline to 39,266 units in April,compared to the same month in 2011.

Exports during the period rose 7 per cent to 1,69,010 units compared to 1,58,422 units shipped in April 2011.

The company continues to enjoy second position in the two-wheeler segment,said Bajaj Auto president for motorcycle business K Srinivas,adding that it remains the most profitable motorcycle manufacturer in the world.

8220;We will continue with our focused approach as a motorcycle specialist. This is what has enabled us to become the second largest bike maker in the domestic market and the third largest in the world. We also continue to be the most profitable motorcycle manufacturer in the world,8221; Srinivas said.
