Audit report finds accounts mismatch

The report said Rs 3.03 crore from Air India towards air tickets and Rs 2.60 crore from Atos Origin towards software for games management system has not been accounted. I have mentioned this point particularly in the audit report as from accounting point of view every receipt should be mentioned in the income and expenditure account, said Anil Sharma of A Sharma and Co,the Delhi-based chartered accountants that conducted the audit. When asked on the necessity for including value-in-kind received from sponsors to be mentioned in the balance sheet,he said,It has to be done as per accounting standards that are followed. Also,it was as per conditions of agreement that the value-in-kind was taken into consideration in preparation of the audit report.

Activist Vijay Kumbhar,who has filed complaint with the state information commissioner on failure of the authorities to furnish details on records sought under RTI Act,said the failure to account for value-in-kind received from sponsor is a serious matter as it was for the Games and should be included in balance sheet.

All the records related to travel for CYG should be made available to public as it should be clear who and how many people travelled through Air India for the purpose of Games,he added. The organisers spent Rs 16.72 crore on use of technology for various purpose and Rs 3.42 crore on the workforce for the event. The total expense for marketing has been Rs 17.25 crore,the report said.
