The Arunachal Pradesh Government has demanded a one-time solution to put to rest once and for all its inter-state boundary dispute with Assam.

Stating this at Itanagar,Arunachal Pradesh Law Minister Tako Dabi said it was high time concrete measures were taken to ensure that the inter-state boundary dispute did not crop up time and again. Dabi also called for strict maintenance of status quo between the two states decided upon in 1979 and 1999. The two states had agreed, first in 1979-80 and later in 1999 to allow farmers of both states to cultivate in their respective agricultural fields, irrespective of claims and counter-claims about the border,an official press note quoting Dabi said.

Referring to last weeks tension,Dabi said the Assam Police and Forest Department had never maintained status-quo along the boundary.
