SC gives nod to govt. formation in Arunachal

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): In a major setback to the Congress, the Supreme Court on Thursday vacated the status quo order of maintaining President's Rule in Arunachal Pradesh, thereby giving its nod to government formation in the state. After going through High Court and assembly records, the Supreme Court decided that it doesn't see any reason to interfere with HC order at this stage. Lawyer Satyapal Singh said the SC has transferred the case of revocation of 12 suspended MLA's to Guwahati High Court.

President's rule imposed 'under pressure' in Arunachal: NCP

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): National Communist Party (NCP) leader Majeed Memon on Wednesday said President Pranab Mukherjee approved the imposition of central rule in Arunachal Pradesh “under pressure” from the BJP-led NDA and alleged that extreme situations to throw out a democratically elected government did not exist in the state. He said the President had expressed his views on Tuesday morning asking the Centre as to what was the hurry. But in a matter of few hours, he put his seal of approval, which only suggests that probably there was some “pressure” that is not in the interest of the constitutional values.

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Blaming Congress for the political crisis in Arunachal Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson MJ Akbar on Wednesday said that the Congress is not 'best suited' to discuss democracy as they have never practised it externally or internally. The Congress, which is determined to stall the ratification of President's rule in Arunachal Pradesh, is mulling both legal and political options to fight the decision.
