Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi is the new Honorary Advisor to the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training BPST,a wing of the Lok Sabha,official sources disclosed here on Thursday.
The BPST is mandated to facilitate capacity building among members of Parliament and parliamentary staff. However,the post of Honorary Advisor,which entitles the incumbent to a government bungalow,has been for long used for solving housing problems of important ruling party politicians after their exit from Parliament.
Rewarded with a Rajya Sabha term from Andhra Pradesh by the Congress,Alvi recently retired from the House.
