5 hurt in fresh attacks

Assam: 1600 people leave relief camps in Kokrajhar,Dhubri

A day after five persons were hacked to death in Chirang district on Saturday evening,miscreants attacked two families in Kokrajhar district early Sunday morning injuring five persons,including three women and a five-year-old girl.

Meanwhile,a total of 1,643 persons who were staying in relief camps left for their respective villages during the past 24 hours,bringing down the number of people now in relief camps to 2,39,793. A press release issued by the state home department on Sunday night said that 1,579 persons left the relief camps in Kokrajhar district,and 219 left relief camps in Dhubri.

In two separate incidents,one at Salakati and the other at Fakrigram,both in Kokrajhar,five persons were injured. The two families,both belonging to the minority community,were on their way to Salakati and Fakrigram railway stations respectively to catch a train to Dhubri. All the five were admitted to hospital and were out of danger,state home secretary G D Tripathi said.

The bruised body of one Bishu Pramanik was found in Suknajhora village under Bogoribari police station in Dhubri on Sunday. We are not sure whether it was a murder related to the ongoing violence, said Tripathi.
