The political circles in Lucknow were abuzz on Monday after posts appeared on the social media handle of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger son, Prateek Yadav, in which remarks were made against his wife and BJP leader Aparna Yadav.
Neither Prateek nor Aparna were reachable for comments.
A post on Prateek’s Instagram handle carrying Aparna Yadav’s image read: “I am going to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible..She ruined my family ties. All she wants to become is famous and influential…” The post also said that Prateek has a “bad mental health condition”.
Even as those close to Aparna maintained that Prateek’s account had been hacked, another post appeared on the same handle, accusing her of breaking his relationship with his mother, father, and brother. The post accused her of being a “liar”.
Aparna and Prateek had married in 2011 in a grand wedding ceremony, attended by top celebrities and businessmen of the country. Both have two daughters, who are often seen in their social media posts. “He (Prateek) is out of town and cannot be contacted. Probably, his account is hacked,” said a family member close to Aparna.
In 2017, Aparna contested as an SP candidate from the Lucknow Cantonment Assembly sea but lost to BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi by nearly 34,000 votes. However, before the 2022 Assembly polls in the state, she joined the BJP.
