Eight jawans of the Uttar Pradesh Police were promised by the state Government a cash reward of Rs 10,000 each for their bravery during the terrorist attack in Ayodhya. It took four years to fulfil that promise. The jawans were handed over the cash reward on Wednesday. The attack on the Babri Masjid-Ram Janam Bhumi complex,in which five terrorists were killed,took place on July 5,2005. The policemen,however,are yet to receive the rewards announced by the BJP-ruled states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and the then MP Chief Minister Uma Bharti had promised Rs 1 lakh each to the policemen.
