Just a week ago they made history by reaching the final of the World Cup. Today, they can8217;t even get a pass to a match in their hometown. So while the revamped Kotla stuffs itself with VIPs, Anju Jain, Amita Sharma and Jaya Sharma 8212; three Delhi players who turned out for India in last Sunday8217;s final 8212; will have to watch the match on TV.

Their teammate Anjum Chopra, a former national captain, does have a pass 8212; but only because her father is a DDCA member.

8216;8216;I received a VIP pass in an envelope this morning but that was only because my father had a right to it as a member8217;8217;, said Anjum.

Amita was more phlegmatic. 8216;8216;Even some of their own ex-cricketers haven8217;t got a pass so how can I expect one?.8217;8217;

DDCA Sports Secretary Sunil Dev admitted to the goof-up but said the DDCA couldn8217;t be blamed.

8216;8216;Yes, we would have extended an invitation but there was no such request from the Women Cricket Association. There8217;s no such tradition of giving them passes and, given the lead-up the match, these things can slip out of mind.8217;8217;
