PUNE, MARCH 11: Pimpri-chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Thakur refused to comment on charges made by opposition leader Sulabha Ubale regarding promotions of two assistant commissioners.
8220;Wait and watch,8221; is what Thakur had to say when asked about the charges. Ubale, in a letter to Chief Minister Narayan Rane, had alleged that Thakur had misled the government by providing incorrect information regarding promotions of two assistant commissioners. She demanded an enquiry into the matter and also demanded Thakur8217;s suspension. The charges were made last Friday when the commissioner was on a visit to Mumbai to attend a meeting convened by the chief minister.
The civic administration had drawn flak last November at the civic general body meeting when the issue of irregularities in promotions was raised. Two administrative officers of backward class were promoted to the posts of assistant commissioners. The urban development department had asked the corporation, in December, to submit a report regarding the promotions.
Thakur confirmed that the report had been sent to the urban development department.
