Sankaralingam,Chairman of NTPC, is due to retire by the end of this financial year. The process of finding his replacement is, therefore, already under way. But as in all bureaucratic postings, there is a catch. After the names of two NTPC officials, Chandan Roy, Director Operations, and RS Sharma, Director Commercial, were shortlisted, the matter has not moved an inch forward for the ACC to take a final call. The file has been lying with Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde for some time now. Questions are already being raised on the reasons for the delay. Well, there still is time till April for the finalisation of the name, but does it mean that in the meanwhile the existing chairman will get a short extension?
