Train accident in Bihar: Railways cancels/diverts several trains; probe underway, says official

Goods train derailment in Asansol Division: Due to the derailment of goods train, several trains including Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Howrah-Patna Vande Bharat have been diverted via another route to reached their destinations.

Bihar train accident: Indian Railways (IR) has regulated several trains on the Howrah–Patna–Delhi route following the derailment of eight wagons of a goods train in Bihar on Saturday night. According to the national transporter, the incident took place between Lahaban and Simulthala stations in the Asansol Division of Eastern Railway (ER). It falls within the Jamui district of Bihar. The derailment disrupted train operations on both the Up and Down lines of the section.

According to Railways, the incident took place near kilometer post 344/05 at around 23:25 hrs on December 27. Following the incident, Accident Relief Trains (ARTs) were rushed to the site from Asansol, Madhupur and Jhajha.

Train accident Jamui: Probe underway, says official

Speaking to Indianexpress.com, Shibram Majhi, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Eastern Railway, said a probe is underway and efforts are being made to normalise train operations at the earliest. “We are trying our best for normalise train operations. All the experts are on the site. Probe going on,” the official told Indianexpress.com.

Bihar train derailment: Trains regulated

Due to the derailment of goods train, several trains including Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Howrah-Patna Vande Bharat have been diverted via another route to reached their destinations. Following the incident, the train timings of both the trains have also been revised.

Train No. 12305 UP Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express, scheduled to depart Howrah at 14:05 hrs on December 28 and earlier rescheduled to 16:05 hrs, has been further deferred to 21:30 hrs. The train will operate via the Dhanbad–Gaya–DDU route due to a derailment in the Jasidih–Jhajha section and the late running of the link train by 1,470 minutes.

Meanwhile, Train No. 22347 Howrah–Patna Vande Bharat Express, scheduled to depart Howrah at 15:50 hrs, left Howrah (HWH) at 17:18 hrs. The train is operating via the ASN–PKA–GMO–KQR–Gaya route, with the delay attributed to the late running of the link train by around 120 minutes.
