WADA men snap up a dozen samples

Athletes will have to submit three months8217; training schedule

.

Once bitten, twice careful. Last time they were at the national camp at NIS Patiala, all the athletes they had targeted had suddenly vanished. This time they came armed with details of training bases of top Indian athletes. This time, the World Anti Doping Agency WADA officials snooped down on the national camp at Patiala Monday and today collected samples from a dozen-odd athletes.

Among those who could not give the officials the slip this time around were shot putters Navpreet Singh and Kuldip Singh, quarter milers Kuldev Singh, Trijit Singh and Sagardeep Singh and long jumpers Maha Singh and Amritpal Singh.

Interestingly, Harwant Kaur has remained out of bounds for all, yet. It may be recalled that top Indian athletes had given WADA officials the slip last January, when training in Potchefstroom. WADA officials had followed the Indians back to India for random, off competition tests, but top athletes, including Harwant Kaur, had managed to give them the slip. That was in the first week of February.

To conduct random dope tests, for starters, it is learnt the IAAF has asked the concerned athletes to furnish at least next three months8217; training details. As per rules, it8217;s now binding on the athletes to be present at the designated place mentioned to the IAAF. Change of training venue should be informed.
