Virdi and Sama triumph

Major Gian Singh emerged winner in the plus 75 category. Piara Singh and JM Thapar finished second and third respectively. The oldest competitor in the race was DR Sethi 82. The winners were given cash awards.

Results: Men: 65 to 70 yrs: 1 GS Virdi, 2 BK Saggar, 3 JK Sama. 70 to 75 yrs: 1 PK Vaidya, 2 RD Soni, 3 RR Batta. Plus 75 yrs: 1 Gain Singh, 2 Piara Singh, 3 JM Thapar. Women: 65 to 70 yrs: 1 Nirmal Mittal, 2 Chanchal Saggar, 3 Rajinder Malhi.

Harminder, Sarita to lead
Harminder Singh of DAV Model School-15 and Sarita of Govt Girls School-18 will lead Chandigarh boys and girls team, respectively, in the 16th Youth National basketball championships to be held at Chittorgarh Rajasthan from December 8 to 13. According to KS Bharti, secretary, Chandigarh Basketball Association, the final team was selected yesterday, on the last day of the coaching camp in both the group.

Team: Boys: Harminder Singh captain, Sangram Singh, Haramardeep Singh, Harveer Singh Sidhu, Brinder Singh Dhillon, Om Bahadur, Sundram Suri, Harsimran Singh, Bikramjeet Singh, Vishal Jamwal, Amandeep Singh and Rajdeep Singh.

Girls: Sarita captain, Shriya Singh, Deepika Mohan, Neha Kohli, Amandeep Kaur, Navneet Kaur, Anchal, Harpreet Kaur, Gayatri, Babita, Deepika, Upjit Kaur.

Manjit Singh, Baje Singh, Gurcharan Kaur and Paramjit Kaur will accompany the teams as officials.
