MELBOURNE, NOV 15: New Zealand plumbed new depths when they were routed for their lowest total in Australia this century against Victoria in a cricket tour match today. The Kiwis were dismissed for 83 by a Victorian line-up minus Paul Reiffel and Shane Warne, with the innings occupying just 50 overs and 200 minutes. Victoria were 131 for seven at close of second day of four-day match. But for a 20-run partnership, the equal best of the innings for the last wicket between Shayne O’ Connor and Geoff Allott, the Kiwis would have registered their lowest ever score in Australia.

That was 64 in 1898-99 against New South Wales. As it is, their 82 is their worst since their 89 against Queensland in 1913-14. Brief scores: New Zealand 82 (David Saker 4-27, Damien Fleming 4-18). Victoria (for 7 wkts in 53 overs) 131 (GT Allott 3-39, SB O’Connor 2-35).
