Veterinary College turns 111

August 3: The Bombay Veterinary College at Parel completed 111 years of service to animal science on Saturday.

Established on August 2, 1886, the college stands out as the oldest in entire East-Asia. The college has produced many pragmatic ideas in biotechnology of feed, development of poultry, dairy, embryo transfer, improvement of quality meat and diagnosis of diseases. Set in the heart of the city and sprawling over 14 acres, the college also stands for its architectural beauty. Two of its buildings are identified as heritage buildings, however one lies in a dilapidated condition allegedly for paucity of funds.
