
The College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University GADVASU here is organising an annual convention of the Veterinary Alumni Association at the Pal Auditorium, PAU on November 29.
Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, president of Alumni association and Dean, College of Veterinary Science, GADVASU said that Veterinary Alumni Association came into existence in the year 1986. Till now, the association membership had crossed the figures of 1,200 and was increasing every year. The newly- admitted students of the College of Veterinary Science are enrolled as the members of the association.
Dr Simrat said that this association was regularly publishing the bi-annual news letter 8212; Vet alumnus 8212; for updating the technical information of the veterinarians and preparing practical manuals in all the subjects, according to Veterinary Council of India VCI curriculum for the under-graduate students of College of Veterinary Science.
Dr V.K Taneja, vice-chancellor, GADVASU will be the chief guest and Dr B.S. Sidhu, Director, Animal Husbandry Punjab, will be the guest of honour on the occasion.
On this occasion, the latest edition of Vet Alumnus and the address-cum-telephonic directory of the faculty of the College of Veterinary Science will also be released by the chief guest. There will be a technical session on the topic 8220;An update on bird flu vis-a-vis human concerns8221; by Dr PN Dwivedi.
Dr Simrat said that on this occasion, 16 eminent veterinarians will be honoured with the 8220;outstanding vet alumni8221; award and all the retiree faculty members from GADVASU will also be honoured.
