
A local court has summoned the top brass of the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University barring Vice-Chancellor Dr V K Taneja on January 20, 2009. Dr Kulbir Singh Sandhu, Director Students Welfare, Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean Veterinary Sciences, Dr Onkar Parmar, Director Extension Education, Dr S K Jand, Dean Post-graduate Studies who also holds the charge of registrar, Dr Amarjit Singh Nanda, Director Research and Dr Kripa Shanker Roy, retired and now professor emeritus Department of Anatomynbsp;have been asked to appear in the court of A K Mehta in connection with tampering the progress report of a university employee.
Dr K J Sharma, professor-cum-head Department of Veterinary Public Health, filed a case against the six for altering his Annual Progress AP and Assessment Report AR by reducing his chances of securing high posts in the university.
Bikramjit Singh Sidhu, the counsel for the appellant, while confirming the summons said, 8220;The court has asked them to present their side of story on the next hearing.8221; University counsel Dr S K Jand said, 8220;The appeal has been dismissed by the lower court already. We have not received any fresh summons and can only comment after seeing them.8221;
While refusing to comment on the case, Dr Sharma said, 8220;In Novembernbsp;2006, the university had advertised for senior posts. As the senior-most professor in the university, I had applied for all the six posts. But I was not selected despite having a good academic record and even the needed seniority.8221;
Later, when Dr Sharma sought information from the university under the RTI Act, he came to know that his progress report from August1, 2005 to July 31, 2006 had been tampered with. The report was signed by the Dean College of Veterinary Sciences, Director Research, Dean Post-graduate studies and Director Extension Education and the then V-C D S Bains. The signing dates on the report had also been changed. The dates were changed from November 27, 2006 to October 23, 2006. Dr Sharma said, 8220;The report carried adverse remarks about my working.8221;
