CHANDIGARH, May 11: Doctors attending on former MP Venod Sharma, father of Manu Sharma, main accused in the Jessica Lal murder case, say that he is likely to be discharged from the PGI quot;very soonquot;.
When he was admitted to the PGI Cardiac Care Unit on May 4, suffering from chest pain and high blood pressure, doctors said that they would keep him under observation for seven days. The observation period ended today. Doctors have been treating him for angina and have controlled the symptoms with medication.
Diagnostic tests indicate that the heart muscle is undamaged which means he did not have a heart attack. He has still to undergo a treadmill test and thallium stress test which detect narrowing of arteries carrying blood supplies to the heart which cause the angina.
Sharma is also under treatment for backache and seeking psychiatric consultation.
The orthopaedicians today put him on mild analgesics.
A 10-day physiotherapy course will start from tomorrow for which he need not stay in the hospital, said a doctor.
