VARANASI, MAY 5: Pan betel-lovers of Varanasi, a city prominent for it, had to pass the day today without having a taste as hundreds of panwallahs8217; pan vendors closed down their establishments to protest against the increase in prices of the raw materials.

The adjoining districts of Chandauli and Bhadoho also saw the shutdown of panwallahs.

The striking panwallahs took out a procession through the city and submitted a nine-point charter of demands to the district magistrate.
