
AGRA, SEPT 12: The city of Taj is fast becoming a hub of political activity in Uttar Pradesh. With the Samajwadi Party making an announcement to this effect recently, the Bahujan Samaj Party too echoed similar intentions. The Swadeshi Jagran Manch held a meeting and RSS, along with the Indian National Lok Dal is planning one in the coming days.
Speaking to The Indian Express here on Tuesday INLD chief Ajit Singh termed the PM8217;s visit to the United States as inconsequential as Vajpayee has failed as a Prime Minister and US President Bill Clinton8217;s tenure too is short and hence cannot make any police decision.
The NDA government has failed at the Centre as it has decided to open the country8217;s agricultural sector to multinational companies 8212; which will spell doom for farmers, Singh said and alleged that the government is yielding to pressure of the World Trade Organisation WTO.
Speaking about the proposed carving out of Harit Pradesh out of UP, he said that state should be divided into smaller administrative units 8212; Bundelkhand, Madhyanchal, Harit Pradesh and Poorvanchal 8212; since western UP earns the most revenue. Singh said a massive campaign will be launchedfrom October onwards in this regard.
Singh did not rule out the possibilities of striking alliance with BSP vice-president Mayawati and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav regarding government formation in the state. 8220;In fact, they share our view on splitting UP into smaller administrative units,8221; he said.
