
VADODARA, Nov 22: District Incharge minister, Jaspal Singh, urged tribals as well as government and non-governmental organisations to work together to make Vadodara a model district and to put up an example of tribal development in the State.
Singh, who is also the State Jails and Rural Housing minister, was speaking at the meeting of district tribal development committee attended by several political leaders including Chhotaudepur MP Ramsinh Rathwa and senior collectorate and district panchayat officials here on Monday.
He informed the members that the district would get around Rs 18 crore for developmental activities in the tribal areas. He also presented 20 tribal girls with cheques of Rs 10,000 cheques for their respective self-employment projects after they had completed training at the Women Training Institute run by Tribal Development Project, Chhotaudepur recently. Singh also lauded the role of the project officials for their several developmental activities.
Project Administrator T L Chauhan, MLAs Sukhram Rathwa, Dhirubhai Bhil, Babarbhai Tadavi also spoke on the occasion. Singh while talking about the several State government schemes said that elaborate plans for proper rehabilitation of tribal convicts was also being currently prepared. There were about 350 tribals convicts in the district, he said.
In another meeting chaired by Singh, the member of the District co-ordination committee reviewed different developmental activities and promised that all the sanctioned works would be completed during the next six months. Several other issues pertaining to drinking water, sewerage lines and civic amenities in the rural parts of the district were also discussed during the meeting, an official release said.
