
VADODARA, NOV 18: Citizens of Vadodara have contributed relief material worth over Rs 15 lakh for the cyclone victims of Orissa, which would be sent through the Sadbhavana train which leaves for Cuttack from Ahmedabad on Friday. Vadodara had sent relief material worth about Rs 12 lakh last week, senior officials hailing from Orissa and other social fora sent materials worth about Rs seven lakh in three separate wagons.
Resident Deputy Collector C R Kharsan and District Supply Officer D G Khachar said while the worth of grains and rice is reportedly about Rs 12 lakh, cotton sarees worth about Rs three lakh would also be sent this time.
He said medicines for the calamity-hit people were being sent from Ahmedabad, and added that it was also likely that biscuits and breads besides pulses would be included this time.
Meanwhile, in another move, two deputy collectors have been transferred from the district collectorate, while four others have been brought to Vadodara from other districts. While M A Chauhan and B C Chaudasma have been sent to Jamnagar and VMC respectively, N D Mistry, H C Mody, B K Kumar and P B Azad, from Godhra, Dahod, Valsad and Ahmedabad respectively, have got postings in the collectorate here in different positions.
