Fire triggered by LPG leak injures five
Mahendra Singh Rathod, his wife Ramilaben and their three children sustained severe burns in the Bhootarijaba police lines on Tuesday morning when Rathod, unaware that the gas pipeline had not been switched off, tried to ignite the gas stove. The entire house caught fire. Subsequently, all the injured were rushed to SSG Hospital, from where they were shifted to the Naik Hospital. According to doctors, though the injured were serious, they were out of danger.

Oil stocks
The Central Gujarat Chamber of Commerce has in a statement said that as per a State government notification, an edible oil wholesaler cannot stock more than 2,000 quintals of edible oilseeds, including groundnut in shell, and a retailer more than 100 quintal. The limit of the same for edible oils, including vanaspati, is fixed at 600 quintals for wholesaler and 20 quintals for retailers. For manufacturers, the limit for holding stocks of edible oilseeds and edible oils is fixed depending upon their installed capacity and commencement of production before or after the commencement of the notification. Limits for holding stocks of edible oilseeds is also fixed for exporters who have firm orders for exports.

Excel centre
The Excel Group has opened its centre, Excel Management Foundation, in Vadodara at Sayajigunj. It offers preparatory courses for CAT, MBA, MCA examinations besides other competitive tests. According to a statement, experts from prime management institutes in Ahmedabad will also visit the Vadodara centre as faculties.

Durgotsava
The Dakshin Baroda Sanskriti Parishad is celebrating it8217;s seventh Durgotsava this year at Sapna Hall, near ONGC. According to Parishad spokesman, people from different communities come to pay obeisance to Goddess Durga.

Inauguration
Mayor Bharati Vyas will inaugurate the first high mast light of the city near the Vadodara Railway Station on Thursday. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation plans to install high mast lights at five to six places in the city.

Pension directive
Pre-1996 retired commissioned officers and their family members receiving pension may obtain information regarding changes in their pension, following recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission, from the District Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation Office, C Bloc, Fourth Floor, Narmada Bhawan, Jail Road, Vadodara.

Farewell function
Members of the State Bank of India Employees8217; Union will hold a farewell function on Wednesday for R O Shah, president of the union, Ahmedabad circle. To be held at the bank8217;s main branch staff canteen, former minister Sanat Mehta will be the guest of honour, while S A Kadri, general secretary of the union8217;s Ahmedabad circle will preside over the function, a statement said.
