Teachers8217; pay to be cut
The State government has ordered all universities in the state to deduct salaries of teachers who have been on strike from the past 20 days. University officials told Express Newsline that the notification said teachers should be paid only for the numbers of days they had worked the previous month.

Mumbai flight
Flight number IC 689/690 Mumbai-Vadodara-Mumbai of the Indian Airlines will not operate on September 2, 4 and 6 due to technical reasons, according to a statement issued by IA Station Manager B S Dhani here on Tuesday.

Derailment
Nine wagons of a goods train were derailed between platforms number three and four of the Vadodara station early on Tuesday. Railway officials said normalcy was restored by 6 am. No damage was reported nor was the passenger train schedule disturbed, they added.

Blood donation
A blood donation camp will be organised by Friends Society, Fatehgunj, and Lions Club West Wing on September 3 at the Science Block, Faculty of Technology and Engineering, Kalabhavan, between 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. A thalassaemia minor testing will also be conducted under Friends8217; Society8217;s Thalassaemia Support Project.

Thakre meet

Cultural event
A cultural programme by Vadodara Telecom District Office employees will be held on September 4 at the Gandhi Nagar Gruh from 7 pm. Telecom General Manager Rakesh Babu will distribute the Sanchar Sarthi Award 1997-98 on the occasion.

Public hearing
A public hearing of more than 400 child labourers of 20 industrial sectors will be held on September 4 at the Samarpan Vidyapith, Satellite Road, Ahmedabad. The hearing will be conducted by a jury, who will deliver their verdict at the end of the day. The next day, the children will take out a rally for their rights. The two-day programme has been organised by the Gujarat chapter of the Campaign Against Child Labour.

Cattle selling
The District Rural Development Agency will purchase cattle for families below the poverty line from sellers with necessary documents. The cattle will be purchased from Marketing Yard, Hathikhana, Vadodara on September 11 and 24, from Marketing Yard, Dabhoi, on September 15 and 25, from Veterinary Hospital, Karjan, on September 18, from Veterinary Hospital, Savli, on September 17, from Veterinary Hospital, Tilakwada, on September 18.
