
Cotton bales gutted
Cotton bales worth about Rs 40 lakh were reported to have been gutted in a fire at a cotton yarn unit near Jharod on Sunday afternoon. Fire Brigade officials said that the fire, the cause of which could not be ascertained, was reported at around 2 pm at the unit near village Mukutpura in Savli taluka. Details were awaited.
CASE seminar
A national Seminar on Innovative Practices in Pupil Evaluation8217; will be held at the Centre of Advanced Study in Education, Faculty of Education and Psychology, M S University, from May 11 to 13. The Centre of Advanced Study in Education will be the host organiser under the aegis of DPEP, Department of Education, MHRD, Government of India through Research, Evaluation and Study Unit of Educational Consultant India Limited Ed CIL. The main objective of the seminar is to develop a framework for evaluation at the Primary Level, particularly to guide the DPEP states with respect to Pupil Evaluation.
One-day seminar
The Vadodara branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants has organised a one-day seminar on Accounting and Auditing8217; on May 16 at the Welcomgroup Hotel. The seminar will discuss topics such as concurrent audit, auditing in computerised environment and important issues of accounting standards. The seminar is open for all. For details call on 351151.
Computer course
Women between the group of 18 and 35 can avail of a six-month diploma course in Computer by the Karelibaug Bhagini Samaj Trust in collaboration with the Gujarat Women8217;s Economic Development Corporation. According to a release women with annual family income below Rs 11,800 and passed XIIth standard are eligible to take admission in the programme which is free.
Priority will be given to widows and divorcees. Those interested should fill in the forms at the Trust office in Dahiba Bhavan, between 10 am and noon on week days.
Patotsav
The Patotsav of Nandalaya at the Govardhannath Haveli will be held in Vallabh Vidyanagar, near Anand, on Wednesday. The programme will be inaugurated and graced by Vaishnav sages Dwarkaeshalalji Maharaj and Navnitlalji Maharaj. Chhapanbhog will be held on Thursday. The religious festivities will commence with Yamunashtak Akhand Path on Monday. This religious programme held by the Vaishnav Pushthi Margi sect will conclude on Saturday.
Non-stop skating
A non-stop roller skating programme has been organised for children in the city on May 30 by Master skating club. Those interested should fill the forms at Reem Zeem8217;, opposite Binanagar Society, Vasna road from May 25 to 27 between 5 and 8 pm.
Poetry recitation
Poet Hasit Buch memorial programme will be observed in the city on Saturday with a poetry recitation in five languages. Umaben Deshpande will recite poetry in Sanskrit, Shweta Joshi in Gujarati, Jayshree Joshi in Marathi, Kantibhai Shah in Hindi, and Natwarbhai Bhatt in Urdu. The Granthgoshthi8217;s programme in Sardar Bhavan, Jubilee baug, coincides with their completion of 15 years.
